We looked at the Messiah that way once and got it all wrong, as you know.
We certainly don’t look at him that way anymore.
Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new.
The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it!
All this comes from the God
who settled the relationship between us and him,
and then called us to settle our relationships with each other.
God put the world square with himself
through the Messiah,
giving the world a fresh start
by offering forgiveness of sins.
God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them.
We’re speaking for Christ himself now:
Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you. 2 Corinthians 5:17 MSG
Just waking up and having my devotions (rebooting) at YouBible. I am reading a devotional about Jesus’ words. Today was focused on freedom.
“Viktor Frankl survived Auschwitz during World War Two. In the prison camp he found, ‘The last inner freedom cannot be lost. It is this spiritual freedom- which cannot be taken away- that makes life meaningful and purposeful.’.* “
There are many similarities between prison and chronic illness. I blogged about that from an article I found on doing time.
I am learning and growing MUCH in my solitude and chronic discomfort. My body suffers but my soul is set free more and more.
I am grateful. 💛
*Jesus’ Words :Freedom. YouBible devotional.
“What am I to do with you, Ephraim? What do I make of you, Judah? Your declarations of love last no longer than morning mist and predawn dew. That’s why I use prophets to shake you to attention, why my words cut you to the quick: To wake you up to my judgment blazing like light. I’m after love that lasts, not more religion. I want you to know God , not go to more prayer meetings. You broke the covenant—just like Adam! You broke faith with me—ungrateful wretches!
Hosea 6:4-7 MSG
our God is a planner. He’s not a reactor. He didn’t set this world in motion to be ruled by chance or wild, unchecked forces. And He didn’t create you to live without hope and purpose. From before the beginning of time, God has been making plans for you and for me. — C Stanley
Jesus replied: ‘ “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: “Love your neighbour as yourself.” All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.’
Matthew 22:37-40 NIVUK
But now, this is what the Lord says – he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
